Newport News, VA | $120,000–$145,000 Base | Established General Contractor
Blayze Group is partnering with an established general contractor and construction management business to appoint an experienced Superintendent based in Newport News, VA.
This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who has independently led their own projects. The successful candidate will oversee daily construction activities, subcontractor coordination and project execution, working closely with the project manager to deliver safe, well-organized projects on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily jobsite operations and subcontractor coordination
- Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules aligned with the overall project schedule
- Manage trade sequencing, site logistics, deliveries and access
- Enforce site safety requirements and maintain a strong safety culture
- Monitor workmanship against approved drawings and specifications
- Identify field issues early and coordinate solutions with the project team
- Use Procore to support field documentation, reporting and project coordination
- Lead subcontractor meetings and coordinate inspections, punch lists and closeout
What We're Looking For
- 15 years of experience in the construction industry
- Proven superintendent experience with a commercial general contractor
- A track record of independently leading projects as the lead superintendent, from construction through closeout
- Familiarity with Procore and its use in day-to-day field operations
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, building systems and trade coordination
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
- Confident leadership and clear communication with subcontractors and project teams
- A proactive approach to safety, scheduling, quality control and problem-solving
