Superintendent | Ground-Up Retail & K-12 | Houston-Based (Travel Role)

$110k – $145k base salary aligned with experience

Blayze Group is partnering with a Houston-based commercial general contractor to appoint a Superintendent to support a pipeline of ground-up retail and K-12 projects across Texas and surrounding states.

This is a traveling role, suited to Superintendents who are comfortable working away from home for the duration of projects and taking full ownership on site.

The Role

• Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through completion on ground-up retail and K-12 projects

• Deliver retail projects typically ranging from $1M to $20M, alongside K-12 projects of varying scale

• Travel to project locations across Texas and neighbouring states, remaining on-site for project duration

• Manage field teams and subcontractors across multiple trades

• Drive look-ahead schedules and enforce sequencing to maintain production targets

• Coordinate with Project Management on manpower, materials, and procurement

• Oversee site safety, quality control, and code compliance

• Maintain daily reporting, track progress, and resolve field issues

• Build relationships with owners, inspectors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth delivery

Background Sought

• Proven experience as a Superintendent on ground-up commercial projects, specifically retail and/or K-12

• Experience delivering smaller retail projects ($1M–$20M) and/or larger institutional builds

• Willingness and ability to travel and stay on projects as required

• Track record of running projects start to finish, not supporting roles

• Strong understanding of sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor management

• Stable career history, ideally 3 years per company

• Ability to read drawings, manage schedules, and operate independently
