As a Senior Engineer – Civil & Structures, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, innovative, and cost-effective civil and structural engineering solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Depending on your background and interests, you'll support projects during preconstruction/estimating or project engineering, helping shape projects from early concept through construction and project closeout.
A typical day may involve developing conceptual civil and structural designs, reviewing engineering packages, evaluating constructability, coordinating with Owners and Engineers of Record (EOR), and solving complex technical challenges across multiple concurrent projects. You'll work closely with Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management to ensure designs are safe, economical, constructible, and aligned with client requirements.
Whether you're supporting Solar Project Engineering or Wind Estimating Engineering, you'll contribute to projects involving structural steel, reinforced concrete foundations, pile and foundation design, site grading, drainage, hydrology, geotechnical coordination, and utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

STEP INTO THE ROLE
- Develop civil and structural engineering solutions supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects through either estimating or project execution.
- Lead civil and structural design development, Basis of Design (BOD) documentation, engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review engineering drawings, structural calculations, grading plans, foundation designs, and third-party engineering packages to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance.
- Collaborate with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), Estimating, Project Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, and Construction teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Support civil and structural quantity takeoffs, value engineering, constructability reviews, and technical risk assessments that improve proposal competitiveness and project execution.
- Coordinate engineering activities with geotechnical consultants, surveyors, permitting agencies, and equipment suppliers throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Mentor Engineer I, Engineer II, and CAD Designers through technical guidance, coaching, and engineering best practices.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining engineering quality, schedule commitments, and client expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, workflows, and design quality through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Four or more years of progressive civil and structural engineering experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy, industrial, EPC, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing multiple engineering priorities while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar or wind projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, pile and foundation design, site grading, drainage, hydrology, geotechnical coordination, and civil site development.
- Experience in either Estimating Engineering (preconstruction) or Project Engineering (project execution), or a combination of both.
- Experience collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), EPC partners, surveyors, geotechnical consultants, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Passion for solving complex engineering challenges, mentoring junior engineers, and continuously improving engineering quality and project delivery.
