Manager II - Project Engineering

Blattner
Minnesota, MN Full Time
POSTED ON 9/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/2/2026
A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Manager II – Project Engineering, Wind, you'll lead multiple engineering teams and programs responsible for delivering safe, high-quality engineering solutions across Blattner's utility-scale wind portfolio. With a core focus on People, Projects, and Processes, you'll develop strong, self-sufficient teams while providing the leadership, resources, and direction they need to execute successfully. Your day moves between developing engineering leaders, overseeing a portfolio of projects and client relationships, aligning resources across teams, strengthening engineering processes, and partnering with Senior Engineering leadership on department-wide priorities and initiatives. You'll work closely with Construction, Estimating, Supply Chain, and other Engineering disciplines to anticipate portfolio needs, remove organizational roadblocks, and drive consistency across project execution. As your teams manage the day-to-day technical work independently, you'll focus increasingly on the bigger picture—building trusted client partnerships, developing talent, improving how we work, and positioning Project Engineering to support the continued growth and success of Blattner's Wind business.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Oversees the team's contribution across the full engineering lifecycle from pre-construction estimating and bid-phase design through project award, design delivery, construction support, and closeout — emphasizing schedule conformance and prioritizing the largest financial impacts at each phase.
  • Delivers designs that provide the most economical solution to satisfy the power plant's design requirements. Collaborates across company departments, vendors, and outside engineering firms to explore innovative ideas, methods, materials, and technologies that promote safety, lower cost, and increase efficiency.
  • Manages and maintains safe utility-scale engineering design practices that comply with Owner, Company, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Provides guidance to Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Engineer I/II staff as they support project engineering design or estimating-phase deliverables.
  • Supports technical review and vetting of new equipment, products, and materials at a program or portfolio level. Coordinates with Supply Chain, Estimating, and Construction for final approval.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college, or relevant equivalent industry experience, required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent credential required.
  • Ten or more years of progressive engineering experience in a related energy or construction industry (e.g., civil/structural, electrical, power generation, or utilities), including demonstrated leadership experience developing other engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Proven track record of growing team members into senior and lead roles. Experience managing multiple concurrent programs or teams is required.
  • Position is estimated to require travel up to 50% of time, subject to fluctuations based on project and business needs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
