What are the responsibilities and job description for the Incorporated Material Buyer position at Blattner?
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Leads and Acts as Blattner’s designated point of contact on complex end to end purchasing cycle of materials and/or equipment including planning & executing purchase orders, determining transport for these orders on/off the job site, executing lease agreements, expediting materials/equipment and resolving quality and invoice issues. Ensures equipment & materials land at the lowest total cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need. Partners with Sourcing team to build and leverage category strategies and manages supplier performance. Responsible for the tactical purchasing activities of assigned commodities while establishing and maintaining excellent vendor/customer relationships.

STEP INTO THE ROLE
- Develops plans, generates, adjusts, and expedites complex purchase orders based upon field requisitions, project insights, interpretation of drawing take-offs, BOMs/BOEs and inventory strategies.
- Leads initiatives to expedite tracking and monitoring of purchase orders in the most efficient and effect manner, keeping informed of any problems or delays and communicates any impacts or constraints to the Planner and Project Manager.
- Distributes and facilitates day to day communication with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, system data integrity, and ordering parameters for individual materials. Communicates site access map to supplier along with all relevant transport and communication information. Ensures suppliers are in compliance with safety, quality, and performance requirements.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, planning or related Supply Chain function required.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies and terms and conditions with each supplier, and the commodity markets for which you support.
- Ability to work independently with skills in sound judgement, critical thinking, excellent business judgement and strategic thinking.
- Ability to travel 3-4 times per year.
