The Role
The Senior Design Engineer is a key member of the project team responsible for the delivery of BlastOne Integrated & Automated Solutions projects. Projects include enclosures/booths, material handling systems, robotics, and environmental controls (industrial scale HVAC and filtration systems). Engineering deliverables for each project include solid models, drawing sets (fabrication, assembly, and site installation), and the complete and accurate BOM. The Senior Design Engineer works in close collaboration with controls, electrical, and project engineers to ensure necessary instrumentation is accounted for in the controls system and schematic designs.
The Senior Design Engineer works in partnership with the Project Engineer to develop the concepts and detailed scoping for assigned projects. Senior Design Engineers then have full accountability for delivering the agreed scope within the agreed timeframes and within the agreed budget. The Senior Design Engineer provides direction (leads) the supporting design team to achieve project success. The successful candidate will be accountable for project deliverables from a quality, timing, and cost perspectives.
- Prepare accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and notes to produce detailed designs.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to ensure drawings are feasible for production.
- Apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances to ensure practicality of designs.
- Ensure that standard products are used within design limits and are appropriate for specific applications.
- Maintain organized drawing files, records, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform basic design calculations as needed to support drafting activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO).

- Up to 5% travel
Work SCHEDULE
- M-F between hours of 7am-5pm
Required Skills/Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or >12 years relevant experience.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design support (preferred).
- Experienced as an informal lead and mentor.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software and PDM.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and technical drawing conventions.
- Familiarity with materials (metals, plastics, composites) and basic manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, fabrication, welding, etc.).
- Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of applicable standards and codes (ASME, ANSI, ISO).
- Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, and production staff.
- Prior exposure to PLM systems or engineering document management systems (a plus).
