SUMMARY: The Clinical Coordinator will serve as a multi-site leader within the IU Partial Hospitalization Programs. This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position. A Clinical Coordinator would meet the requirements of a Mental Health Professional as defined in 5210.3. Clinical Coordinators will guide and support clinical team members by conducting supervision, delivering training (including new hire and ongoing training), serving as a point of contact for site-specific problem-solving, overseeing staff paperwork, and more. The Clinical Coordinator will be a part of the site clinical staff ratio by providing direct service to an identified caseload including, but not limited to, individual sessions, treatment planning, family coordinator, interagency coordination, and district communication.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

 

The Clinical Coordinator, as a leader of the treatment team which includes a psychiatrist and other appropriate staff, will be responsible for the following tasks across BLaST Partial Hospitalization Program locations:

  • Provide clinical supervision to Treatment Team Leaders.
  • Co-sign/Approve documentation for staff as applicable
  • Develop/Facilitate training for site staff relevant to clinical needs
  • Oversee completion of clinical staff new hire checklists
  • Provide on-going consultation with clinical staff as needed.
  • Complete quality management reviews to monitor compliance with regulatory and payor expectations for services.
  • Knowledge/training in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques. Ability to assist in the implementation of nonviolent physical restraints.
  • Adheres to the home school and district’s procedures for safety and discipline
  • Share data to support the preparation of educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and classroom attendance data.
  • Conducts or assists in FBAs and the development of positive behavior support plans.
  • Consults with classroom teachers and other staff as needed.
  • Responsible for the formulation and implementation of the treatment plan for assigned clients by regulatory expectations:
  • Be formulated to the extent possible, with the cooperation and consent of the client, or a person acting on his behalf. The Clinical Coordinator will encourage client engagement in their treatment planning process.
  • Be based upon examination of the medical, psychological, social, cultural, behavioral, familial, educational, vocational, and developmental aspects of the client’s situation.
  • Set forth treatment objectives and prescribe an integrated program of therapies, activities, experiences, and appropriate education designed to meet these objectives.
  • Ensure that staff are trained and experienced in the use of the modalities proposed in the treatment plan and shall participate in the development, implementation, and review.
  • Responsible for implementing and reviewing the individualized treatment plan, coordinating service delivery from other service providers, and reviewing progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Be maintained and updated with signed daily notes, and be kept in the client’s medical record or a form developed by the facility.
  • Be developed within the first five days of service interviewed by the treatment team a minimum of once every 20 days of service to the individual client and modified as appropriate
  • Documents and evaluates student progress based on progress monitoring techniques and observation.
  • Completes bio-psychosocial histories for incoming clients. Monitors client's adaptive/behavioral progress when appropriate.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and physical interventions, in accordance with safety care certification competencies without restrictions to certification, to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license and ability to drive without advanced notice

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides clinical supervision to Treatment Team Leaders. Supervises clients when in an individual or group setting. Provides feedback to site leadership regarding workplace effectiveness and process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Clinical Coordinator services are provided with a graduate degree in a mental health or human services concentration. As such, this individual will meet the requirements of a

Mental Health Professional as defined in 5210.3. The Clinical Coordinator should have broad-based ability to implement individualized therapeutic interventions.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A clinical license in Pennsylvania to provide mental health services is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff, teachers, parents, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory for therapeutic benefit; ability to plan and implement individual, group therapy and individual objectives that meet the needs and abilities of clients to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication. Competent in the use of computer technology.
