Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary
Bland Landscaping Company is seeking an experienced Equipment Mechanic to join our Durham team. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of landscaping and construction equipment to keep our crews operating efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate brings strong small-engine repair skills, organizational ability, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose and repair landscaping and construction equipment, including:
- 2-cycle and 4-cycle small engines
- Mowers, blowers, weed eaters
- Tractors, skid steers, and other light construction equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance (oil/filter changes, belt replacements, inspections, safety checks).
- Complete both in-shop and off-site repairs as needed.
- Maintain detailed service and repair records.
Parts & Inventory Management
- Pick up and manage parts from vendors.
- Organize, track, and maintain inventory for equipment and parts.
- Ensure all parts are properly recorded through company systems.
Shop & Safety
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and work environment.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA standards and company safety procedures.
- Support managers and crews by ensuring equipment is field-ready daily.
- Assist with seasonal services such as snow removal or storm response.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant mechanical experience.
- Valid NC Driver’s License with a clean driving record (CDL preferred).
- Must submit to and pass reference and criminal background checks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and support team operations.
- Ability to motivate others and maintain professional working relationships.
- Must comply with all Bland Landscaping Company, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Must practice proper safety protocols with chemicals and equipment.
- Must wear company-provided uniforms and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
