Position Overview

The Aquatics Stormwater Technician I is an entry-level field position responsible for learning and supporting all operational aspects of Foster Lake & Pond Management (FLPM). This role assists with aquatic management, stormwater maintenance, construction and repair services, preventative and corrective maintenance, and retail operations while developing the technical, operational, and communication skills necessary for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Field Support

1. Preventative Maintenance: Demonstrate progress and receive positive performance feedback while assisting with preventative maintenance services.

2. Construction & Repair Services: Support construction and repair projects while developing technical skills and field knowledge.

3. Retail Support: Assist retail operations and inventory-related activities as assigned.

4. Corrective Maintenance: Learn corrective maintenance procedures and demonstrate consistent improvement.

5. Equipment Maintenance: Become proficient in basic equipment inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures and complete all proficiency checklist requirements by the end of the first year.

6. Facility Maintenance: Learn and perform facility maintenance responsibilities and complete all proficiency checklist requirements by the end of the first year.

7. Field Operations: Assist with pond, lake, and stormwater management projects as directed by supervisors and Project Managers.

Software & Administrative Responsibilities

1. Time Tracking: Utilize company timekeeping software daily and accurately clock into assigned jobs.

2. Email Management: Check and respond to Outlook emails daily during workdays.

3. Vehicle Inspections: Learn the company vehicle maintenance platform and become proficient in completing vehicle inspections within the first six months.

4. Human Resources Software: Learn and effectively utilize company HR software within the first three months.

5. Calendar Management: Review and update the company calendar daily as needed.

6. Documentation: Complete all required reports, inspections, records, and administrative tasks accurately and on time.

Training & Professional Development

1. SCM Certification: Successfully obtain the Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) Inspection and Maintenance Professional Certification within the first year of employment.

2. Aquatic Pesticide License: Successfully pass the North Carolina Aquatic Pesticide Applicator Examination within the first year of employment.

3. Company Training: Attend at least one company-led training event annually.

4. Continuous Learning: Demonstrate initiative in developing technical, operational, and leadership skills.

Communication & Teamwork

1. Customer Service: Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, supervisors, and fellow FLPM team members.

2. Feedback Participation: Submit at least two pieces of feedback monthly through the company feedback and review platform.

3. Responsiveness: Respond to company emails within two business days.

4. Availability: Respond to company texts and phone calls during working hours.

5. HR Compliance: Complete self-check-ins, performance reviews, and all requested HR-related tasks by established deadlines.

Physical Demands

1. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

2. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.

4. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

5. Willingness to travel to customer sites and attend training events as needed.

Education & Experience

1. Required: High School Diploma or GED.

2. Preferred: Experience in landscaping, environmental management, stormwater maintenance, construction, pond or lake management, horticulture, or related field services.

3. Technical Aptitude: Ability and willingness to learn equipment operation, maintenance procedures, software systems, and aquatic/stormwater management practices.

Licensing & Certifications

1. Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

2. Required Certification: Must obtain the North Carolina Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License within the first year of employment.

3. Required Certification: Must obtain the North Carolina SCM Inspection and Maintenance Professional Certification within the first year of employment.
