What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher/Coach, DAEP position at Blanco High School?
Primary Purpose:
Supervise students assigned to DAEP for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal. Coordinate retrieving and returning students’ work from teachers at the middle school and high school.
Coaching duties are to be determined and may include a combination of middle and high school sports. Possible coaching assignments include: Head Boys Basketball, Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Assistant Football, Assistant Track.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Valid Texas teaching certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Spanish preferred
Experience:
Minimum of one year of student teaching or an approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
- Work with certified teachers and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment
- Work with individual students to complete assignments given by the classroom teacher.
- Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
- Retrieve student assignments from the appropriate campus.
- Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
Student Management
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
- Record student attendance and discipline referrals according to established procedures.
Other
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events when required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Coaching Responsibilities:
Lead, organize, and coach teams as assigned.
Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and student-athlete growth on and off the field.
