What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Assistant Principal position at Blakemore Middle School?
Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage assigned areas of the instructional program and campus operations for the Boys Ranch ISD middle school campus located within a residential facility serving at-risk youth. Oversee student services, discipline systems, and campus operations using trauma-informed, behavior-supportive, and safety-focused practices. This position may periodically be assigned to provide administrative or instructional support at the Boys Ranch ISD elementary and high school campuses as needed to ensure continuity of district operations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Texas Principal Certificate or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of campus operations within a residential or alternative education setting
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including strategies for students with academic gaps and behavioral needs
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention systems, and restorative approaches
- Ability to manage budget, personnel, and campus operations
- Ability to implement district policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret academic, attendance, and behavioral data
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with residential staff, counselors, and community agencies
Experience:
- Two years’ experience as a classroom teacher
- Experience working with at-risk youth, alternative education programs, or residential settings preferred
Salary : $67,320 - $88,660
