What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Protective Services Helpline Representative position at Blair Senior Services, Inc.?
Blair Senior Services, Inc., a non-profit Area Agency on Aging, is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the first point of contact for individuals calling to report suspected cases of abuse, neglect, abandonment or exploitation for Pennsylvania residents over the age of 18. We are currently looking to fill full-time positions from either 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. The initial training will be hybrid, with remote and in person learning that will take place in the Huntingdon/Bedford area. After the initial training, employees will work primarily from home. There are no sales or cold-call duties associated with this position and no rotating shifts; rather, intake staff will be contacted directly by those seeking assistance.
Successful candidates will provide professional assistance over the telephone to those in need of Adult Protective Services by asking probing questions and gathering required information. Applicants are responsible for thoroughly and accurately documenting all information into a database and ensuring the information is forwarded to appropriate agencies for service referrals and/or investigations. Applicants must be patient, able to manage emotions and listen carefully to others regarding difficult subject matter in order to exchange information and provide the best possible assistance. Candidates should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, make decisions under pressure in the context of workflows, and complete tasks within strict timeframes.
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant customer service experience is preferred. Candidates must be advanced with their computer skills and able to work using multiple software systems in order to complete required data entry tasks. Providing professional and outstanding customer service is of utmost importance.
The starting hourly wage is $14.16 - $16.99, depending on experience. We offer an excellent benefit package that includes a generous amount of paid time off available immediately upon hire for both full-time and part-time employees, a retirement plan with an annual contribution rate of 7.5% beginning on the first anniversary date, and the option to participate in the Agency’s group health insurance plan with a low monthly premium.
