WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Direct all Police Department operations — enforcement, crime prevention, and protection of life and property
- Set strategic direction and right-size the department to meet current and future needs while ensuring long-term financial sustainability
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of sworn and civilian personnel
- Build the department's budget and manage resources effectively under real fiscal constraints
- Use data and analytics to drive deployment, policy, and performance decisions
- Serve as a visible, trusted partner to the Mayor, Town Council, residents, and regional law enforcement agencies
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree (Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field) and 10 years of progressive law enforcement/management experience, including 3 years in a Command Staff role — master's degree or executive leadership training preferred
- Current knowledge of Maryland law enforcement legislation, including the Maryland Police Accountability Act
- A track record of strategic thinking, operational efficiency, and community-focused leadership
- Maryland Police Officer certification (or eligibility) and Supervisor Training Certification
