This is a temporary, exempt position designed to keep the People & Culture (HR)
department functioning smoothly and manage key initiatives while the permanent
director is on leave.
Position Summary
The Interim Director of People & Culture ensures the continuity of all Human Resources
efforts by executing core values and utilizing resources to support the BRG restaurants.
This individual rapidly integrates into the organization to manage immediate priorities,
address urgent issues, and support the team during this transitional period.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following, with an emphasis
on immediate operational needs and assigned projects:
- Ensure the highest of Human Resources and Culture standards.
- Executing all people related activities including HR compliance, recruiting, and promoting the culture.
- Manage daily HR operations, including performance management, employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, and training.
- Audit i9s and other compliance items to ensure the company is not in violation of laws and regulations.
- Oversee Team Member feedback and complaints, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
- Oversee the management job postings and review applicants to help General
- Managers fill positions and ensure restaurants are fully staffed.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and leadership, building trust quickly in a new environment.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, objective investigations.
Key Projects & Deliverables
The individual will also be responsible for completing specific projects during their
tenure:
- Understand all payroll company services and agreements to ensure maximum efficiency and compliance.
- Develop an HR dashboard to provide quick visibility to key HR and Payroll metrics.
- Update performance review processes and related documentation.
- Develop a robust succession plan and people strategy for the organization's future growth.
- Implement a better engagement survey process to gather meaningful team member feedback.
- Lead the relaunch of the company's Vision, Mission, and Core Values to boost cultural alignment.
- Develop and implement specific training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge across the organization.
- Assist the VP of Operations in maintaining and developing new processes as they relate to HR and Culture.
- Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- 5 years in a Human Resources leadership role within the restaurant, hospitality, or relevant sector required.
- Extensive experience in HR management and a strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment law.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to present solutions for organization and efficiency.
- Strong communication and adaptability skills to navigate a new environment quickly.
- Exceptional leadership and strong interpersonal skills to manage a team during a transition.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency, consolidating tasks and advocating for others.
- Embraces a Transformational, Servant, Team-Oriented Leadership style that inspires and supports staff while driving organizational change and results.
- Human Resources certification preferred.
Physical Demands (Additional Requirements)
- Must have the stamina to work up to 50 to 55 hours per week.
- The travel required for this position is approximately 20%, including air, car, bus, train, and weekend travel.
