What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Bartender position at Blackstones Steakhouse?
Bartender — Blackstones Steakhouse Stamford, CT
Blackstones Steakhouse in downtown Stamford is seeking a skilled, passionate Bartender to join us as we enter an exciting new chapter.
We're an established steakhouse preparing for a major transformation: later this year we'll be renovating and rebranding into a more sophisticated, upscale steakhouse concept. Our bar program is at the heart of that vision, built around unique, house-created cocktails using classic technique, a thoughtful global wine list filled with wines with a sense of place, and a deep selection of boutique whiskies focused on Japan, Bourbon, and Scotch.
You'll also have the rare opportunity to learn directly from a Master Sommelier, one of roughly 280 worldwide, sharpening your wine and beverage expertise in a way few bar roles can offer. We're looking for someone who takes craft seriously, loves guiding guests through a great list, and is excited to help build a bar program worth traveling for.
What you'll do
- Craft our house cocktails to exacting standards using classic technique, balance, and consistency
- Contribute ideas to an evolving, in-house cocktail menu
- Guide guests through our wine and whisky selections with knowledge and genuine enthusiasm
- Deliver warm, polished, attentive service at the bar and to the dining room
- Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked bar
- Manage accurate pours, ringing in checks correctly, and responsible alcohol service
- Support inventory, ordering input, and par levels for spirits, wine, and bar product
What we're looking for
- 2 years of bartending experience, ideally in an upscale, craft-focused, or fine-dining setting
- Strong command of classic cocktail technique and a real passion for the craft
- Working knowledge of wine, with the ability to speak to regions, styles, and sense of place
- Genuine interest in whisky, particularly Japanese, Bourbon, and Scotch
- Excellent presentation and communication, with a warm, confident presence behind the bar
- Speed, accuracy, and composure during high-volume service
- Comfort with POS systems and responsible service practices
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
Major pluses
- Formal beverage education or certification (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, BAR, or similar)
- Experience developing or running a craft cocktail program
- Deep whisky or spirits knowledge
