About the Role
The primary function of the Residential Drafter is to provide accurate and complete construction documents that ensure the building process is effective, efficient, and productive. These plans will convey all necessary construction details needed throughout the building process of the home. Extreme attention to detail, process orientation, a relentless focus on accuracy, a sense of urgency toward meeting business objectives, and a service-based approach are essential in this role.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and maintain documented drawing standards to which all plan sets adhere, including standardized detail pages and sections for all plans
- Create and maintain complete master sets for all plans currently offered according to Blackstone Homes standards
- Revise existing and create new plans to stay current with residential design trends
- Prepare lot fit drawings as requested by the sales team
- Prepare site plans for address-specific job starts
- Prepare address-specific construction drawings for all new job starts
- Assist in resolving plan issues for construction and/or trade partners to execute plans as drawn
- Educate and familiarize yourself with applicable building codes
- Process change-order requests and distribute revisions in a timely fashion to eliminate any plan version confusion for all parties affected by change
- Distribute and communicate applicable master set and site-specific plan revisions to all impacted stakeholders
- Collaborate with purchasing and estimating personnel in resolving product specification, material sizing, and quantity estimate concerns that arise as plans are bid and estimated
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Architecture, Environmental Design, Computer Aided Drafting, Drafting & Design Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in residential drafting or home building
- Proficiency in Revit required — our plans are entirely Revit-based
- Experience with AutoCAD is strongly desirable
- Candidates with HighArc experience will be given extra consideration
- Proficiency in Lumion and/or SketchUp preferred
- Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes
- MS Office proficient
- Driven to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers in person, by phone, and via email
- Proven ability to succeed in a time-sensitive environment and work cohesively with a team
- Effective time-management and multi-tasking skills
Schedule
- Monday – Friday, full-time
