Job Title: Transactional Attorney, Associate/ Assistant Vice President
Job Description
The Legal & Compliance department seeks an attorney to provide legal transactional support across a number of Blackstone’s investment businesses, including Tactical Opportunities, Growth, Infrastructure, Life Sciences and Strategic Partners, as well as for the firm’s investments in early-stage companies and other strategic investments. The attorney will be part of a highly collaborative, global legal group, working alongside a group of senior transactional attorneys on a variety of legal and transactional-related matters involving these businesses, and will interact closely with investment professionals and outside counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney to gain exposure to a diverse and significant portion of Blackstone’s investing businesses and the firm’s balance sheet investments and develop legal transactional skills working within a diverse team of senior transactional lawyers.
Primary areas of responsibility include:
Advise on transaction-related legal, structuring and regulatory matters, including competition filings, foreign direct investment matters and trading of public securities
Advise on transaction documentation, including bid letters, term sheets and definitive transaction documentation
In coordination with investment professionals and outside counsel, scope appropriate level of diligence and advise on key findings of outside counsel
Liaise with operations, tax, fund formation and compliance teams on a variety of matters, including transaction structuring, regulatory matters, co-investment matters and signing and closing process
Provide legal support to business unit asset management team with respect to existing portfolio companies
Support business unit general counsel and senior transactional attorneys on long-term projects and initiatives
Liaise with government relations and public affairs teams on transaction-related matters
Qualifications
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, organized and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:
2 years’ directly related experience as a corporate attorney in a major law firm
Good judgment and ability to provide risk-adjusted, commercial advice to highly sophisticated individuals
Demonstrated ability to write and communicate clearly, effectively and confidently
Experience managing longer-term projects or initiatives a plus
