The Front Desk Attendant for the Aquatics department provides administrative, reception, and program support for the Aquatic Center.

Shift may include:
Sunday afternoons, Thursday mornings and afternoons, Friday afternoons and evenings, Saturday mornings and afternoons

  • Performs clerical duties as required such as maintaining logs and reports and assists with mailings
  • Assists recreation staff in their duties and assignments
  • Manages the phone activity including providing general knowledge to callers
  • Manages walk-in traffic
  • Performs membership identification process
  • Maintains common areas and office equipment
  • Assists in maintaining cleanliness of locker rooms/rest rooms, lobby area and pool decks as necessary
  • Handles cash receivables and operates a cash register/computer
  • Attends staff meetings and monthly in-services
  • Assists with opening and closing procedures
  • Performs other job duties assigned, to include but not limited to camps, special events, front desk, swim lessons, and swim team
**Front Desk staff is to wear only approved staff clothing
  • General knowledge of current office practices, methods, and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to positively interact with the general public
  • Ability to efficiently coordinate activities and work effectively with other staff in a positive work environment
  • Ability to use a personal computer is required, along with basic use of Microsoft software such as Word and Excel
  • Requires clerical skills including typing, filing, office machine operation, cash register operation, maintenance of records, and the ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Requires excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to prevent accidents through rule enforcement, remain calm in emergency situations, analyze and correct facility hazards; as well as the ability to learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures
 
 Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Certification required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Cash handling experience is desired  
Special Requirements
  • Valid drivers license with satisfactory driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
 
  • Must be able to lift or move equipment/chemicals up to 80 pounds with assistance and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, exhibit manual dexterity and the ability to handle objects
  • Must be able to occasionally push, pull or balance
  • Ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed
  • May be exposed to chlorine or other pool chemicals, heat, blood or other body
