Job Overview
Blacksburg Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented professional to conduct autism assessments for children and adolescents in our family-centered pediatric practice. The Autism Assessment Coordinator will administer and score the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), gather developmental information, prepare assessment summaries, and coordinate with the provider for interpretation of findings and diagnostic determination. This position will start out as part-time but has the potential to transition into full-time with experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer and score ADOS-2 assessments according to standardized protocols.
- Collect and document developmental, behavioral, medical, and educational histories relevant to autism evaluations.
- Compile assessment findings and prepare organized summaries and reports for provider review.
- Ensure all testing documentation is complete, accurate, and entered into the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate scheduling and communication with families regarding the evaluation process.
- Educate families on the assessment process and provide information regarding next steps and community resources.
- Collaborate closely with the provider, who will interpret the results and determine diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable regulations and practice policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, education, or a related field preferred.
- ADOS-2 training or willingness to obtain training required.
- Experience working with children with developmental, behavioral, or neurodevelopmental concerns preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with children and families and work effectively within a pediatric team environment.
- Detail-oriented and able to follow standardized assessment protocols consistently.
