LOCATION & TRAVEL

This position requires frequent travel between the Indianapolis Metro Region, Huntsville, AL, and the Clarksville/Fort Campbell area, with regular deployments to remote and austere OCONUS locations. If you enjoy being in the field, this is where you belong.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Blackrock Strategy is seeking a Deployable UAS Operator to support high-priority test, training, and operational missions using Group 1–3 unmanned aircraft systems. This role is hands-on, field-centric, and ideal for professionals who excel in high-tempo, high-consequence environments.

You’ll be tuning systems on the ground, launching aircraft in real time, troubleshooting failures under pressure, and helping our government partners solve complex operational problems with unmanned platforms and attack systems. This is not a desk job—you will be where the mission is.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Operate unmanned aircraft systems during test events, training missions, and real-world operations
• Plan and execute UAS sorties using Mission Planner, including diagnostics, telemetry review, and waypoint control
• Configure, tune, and calibrate ArduPilot-based aircraft; manage firmware updates and field adjustments
• Conduct mission planning, airspace deconfliction, risk mitigation, and necessary documentation for experimental flights
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks; capture performance data and system observations
• Troubleshoot aircraft subsystems, RF links, ground control stations, and payload integrations in challenging field conditions
• Coordinate with airspace managers, range control, mission leads, and partner organizations
• Maintain full deployment readiness and support up to ~180 days of CONUS/OCONUS travel per year

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years of UAS operations experience (military or commercial)
• Proficiency with ArduPilot and Mission Planner
• Experience with Group 1–3 unmanned platforms
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain
• Ability to pass deployment medical screening and meet travel requirements
• U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior military UAS experience (15W, 7314, or related MOS/AFSC)
• Experience supporting DoD operations, R&D, testing, or rapid fielding efforts
• Knowledge of RF communication systems, EO/IR payloads, or mobile GCS integration
• Bachelor’s degree in unmanned systems, engineering, or a related field
• Experience operating in controlled range environments or restricted airspace
• Active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance
