Senior Project Controller in Houston, TX
- Pay Range: $60/hr. - $68/hr. (commensurate with experience)
- Contract role with hybrid schedule (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in office; Wednesday and Friday remote/work from home)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controller to support large-scale capital projects by driving project controls, forecasting, cost management, scheduling support, reporting, and performance analysis throughout the full project lifecycle. This role partners closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and accounting teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project controls plans, procedures, and reporting structures
- Support project initiation, budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and closeout activities
- Review estimates and align project scope with control WBS structures
- Collaborate with schedulers and contractors to establish reporting requirements and key project milestones
- Monitor project costs, commitments, forecasts, and earned value metrics
- Analyze project performance trends and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Support estimate-at-completion updates and evaluate contingency and escalation impacts
- Review contractor progress, incurred costs, and variance explanations
- Participate in risk assessments, forecasting reviews, and project assurance activities
- Prepare monthly reporting packages and executive-level presentations
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate project controllers
- Ensure all financial, administrative, and system closeout activities are completed
Qualifications:
- University degree required
- 15 years of related project controls experience
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, scheduling, and earned value management
- Experience supporting high-risk capital projects across various asset types
- Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Field experience is considered an asset
