Job Duties
- Prepare process and finished product samples.
- Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
- Record results using computerized data systems.
- Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant as assigned.
- Maintain samples of tested products to confirm test results, if necessary.
- Document results of all testing procedures and promptly notify operations of required adjustments.
- Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Understand production processes and may make recommendations to operators to achieve product quality.
- Perform light maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipment.
- Maintain ongoing records of the results of all testing procedures and input such data into a computer daily.
- Maintain adequate supplies for testing procedures and notify the supervisor of the need to reorder.
- Compare equipment readouts with samples of standards to ensure accurate operation.
- Maintain a neat and clean working area, wash equipment as required, and store equipment properly.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
- Perform duties safely, utilizing all approved safety equipment and complete all safety certification requirements.
- Adhere to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines.
- 2 or more years of science degree.
- Good attendance history.
- Excellent safety record and awareness.
- Proficient computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs.
- Familiarity with commercial software applications (Excel, Word).
- Experience with lab documentation.
- Experience operating standard lab equipment (e.g., pH meter, balances, spectrophotometer).
- Proficient math skills for calculations associated with lab testing.
- Previous plant experience.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks.
- Team-building skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven housekeeping and sanitation skills.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
- Accurate record-keeping skills.
