Lab Technician

Contract Position - On Site

Hudson, NY

Training will be done on Dayshift 7:00 am to 3:00M-F (Training can range from 4-12 weeks, with 6-8 being about average.)

Swing shift between 2nd and 3rd after training

$20.00 - 22.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Lab Technician is accountable for ensuring product integrity in the manufacturing process and through release.

Ability to utilize standardized techniques and operating procedures in order to conduct and analyze tests on sensitive samples.

Will be part of the Quality Team promoting Quality and Food Safety Culture.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform all applicable analytical and sensory tests on in-process and finished products in a precise and timely manner.
• Recording, interpreting, and entering test results in specified forms and LIMS software.
• Determine and recognize inconsistencies in the data and report to necessary personnel in a timely manner including escalation.
• Follow established SOPs accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, handle, and store samples appropriately.
• Maintain all laboratory equipment and be able to troubleshoot any problems, taking corrective action and maintaining records.
• Handle, organize and store all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases in the manner outlined in the Safety Data Sheet.
• Complete verifications in testing, standards, equipment, and instruments to ensure accurate performance.
• Participate in proficiency/collaborative testing.
• Work alone and in teams across all departments - Communicating with other departments as necessary
• Willingness to assume additional and new responsibilities.
• Maintain a neat, clean and well-organized work area.
• Maintain samples of tested product in order to confirm test results, when necessary.
• Maintains adequate supplies used for testing and notifies the manager of the need to re-order such supplies.
• Continually compares test results with standards, as required, to insure that all products are within specification.
  
  

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Read/write/speak English and do general Math

Must be able to work on multiple tasks and remain organized

Participates actively in training

Preferred Analytical Laboratory Experience

MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote)

Adheres to OSHA and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and HACCP requirements.

Must be able to handle dangerous chemicals in a safe manner

Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

• Must be capable of working from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly (ex. Moving a gas cylinder)
