Job Summary:
The Building Engineer in Oceanside, CA, will maintain, repair, and operate building systems for a medical clinic spanning about 70,000 sq ft. This hands-on role requires a self-driven, proactive individual with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong technical background, and the ability to work independently to ensure safe and efficient operation of all building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee HVAC, building automation, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and life safety systems, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with lease obligations and industry standards (ASHRAE, BOMA).
- Documentation: Use work order systems to track scheduled maintenance, tenant requests, and emergencies.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate third-party contractors, develop scopes of work, solicit bids, and inspect contractor performance.
- Inspections & Safety: Conduct regular building inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA).
- Customer Service: Serve as a primary point of contact for tenants and property managers, addressing concerns with professionalism and prompt urgency.

- Technical Proficiency: Good knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)

Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 3-5 years in commercial building maintenance preferred.
- 40-hour work week: preferably Monday through Friday, working 8 hours.
- Physical Demands: Must lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, bend, and work in various environments.
