Blackfield Associates are currently partnered with a global pharmaceutical manufacturer to support their search for a Construction Quality Lead to join their project based in Indiana on an initial 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the construction-driven turnover process, ensuring smooth transition from construction to commissioning and CQV.
- Define and implement the construction turnover strategy, including systemization, turnover sequence, and mechanical completion criteria.
- Coordinate closely with construction management, subcontractors, and discipline leads to ensure systems are mechanically complete and ready for handover.
- Oversee development and execution of system handover plans, including turnover packages, test packs, redlines, and as-built documentation.
- Drive punch list identification, tracking, and closure, ensuring construction deficiencies are resolved prior to turnover.
- Lead and participate in system walkdowns, verifying installation quality and completeness against design and project standards.
- Ensure all construction documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with GMP and project quality requirements.
- Maintain clear visibility of turnover status, readiness, and risks across all systems, and report progress to project leadership.
- Coordinate with CQV, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless progression from mechanical completion into commissioning and qualification.
- Monitor turnover schedule performance, identify risks or delays, and implement mitigation actions to protect key milestones.
- Interface with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of required documentation, completion of scope, and readiness for system handover.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, construction quality requirements, and regulatory expectations throughout turnover activities.
Experience Required
- Sufficient experience in construction, mechanical completion, or turnover roles on large capital projects.
- Strong experience leading construction turnover and mechanical completion processes in pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial projects.
- Proven track record managing systemization, punch lists, and turnover packages in a construction environment.
- Deep understanding of construction execution, installation practices, and system readiness for commissioning.
- Familiarity with GMP environments and quality documentation expectations for regulated facilities.
- Experience coordinating closely with construction, QA/QC, CQV, and engineering teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple systems and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a fast-paced site environment.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
