What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmstead Ambassador position at BLACKBERRY FARM?
The Farmstead Ambassador is responsible for leading our guests on Farmstead tours, assisting with and leading other guest-focused events and tours of the Farmstead, working with our Marketing team to promote the Farmstead, and assisting in day-to-day Farmstead responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensuring that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience while they learn about our heritage farming practices, meet different artisans around the farm, and sample award-winning food and beverage items
- Keeps current on the workings of each farmstead department (dairy, garden, kennel, creamery, preservation kitchen, butcher shop)
- Maintains the appearance of the farm buildings
- Takes a large role in some of the specialty areas of the Farmstead, such as seed saving, mushroom cultivation, truffle cultivation, truffle dog training, etc.
- Participates in some off-property Farmstead-related events, such as seed swaps or truffle hunts
- Actively works on plans for improving guest experiences on the Farmstead, including monitoring and assessing needs for improvements to existing tours, ideas and plans for implementing new tours, and elevating informal interactions
- Promotes the Farmstead programs as often as possible on the Farm
- Promotes Farmstead program via e-mail, external marketing materials, and internal newsletters
- Assists Marketing team and Farmstead Manager in communications with other Farmstead personalities
- As needed and to maintain knowledge, takes on milking shifts during sheep milking season and assists in caring for all livestock, including sheep, chickens, turkeys, and various other animals throughout the year
- Assists in safety procedures and understands all sanitation safety
- Understands State of TN Dairy standards & requirements
- As needed and to maintain knowledge, assists Garden staff in garden maintenance and harvest
- As needed and to maintain knowledge, assists Larder staff with tasks such as flipping cheese, labelling preserve jars, etc.
- Alerts Assistant Farmstead Manager when extra labor help or supplies are needed to complete tasks
Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers, and interact with our guests.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous agricultural experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic knowledge and understanding of math
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to be on feet for the majority of the day
- Must be able to operate a golf cart or company vehicle safely
