Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck for local deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate drop-offs at customer locations.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or material handling equipment while following safe lifting practices.
- Verify delivery orders, complete necessary documentation, and obtain signatures from recipients.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after routes to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, traffic laws, and safety protocols during all driving activities.
- Maintain professional communication with dispatchers and customers via mobile devices, providing updates on delivery status.
- Assist with warehouse operations as needed, including material handling, inventory management, and moving supplies within the facility.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in warehouse operations involving manual handling and material movement.
- Valid driver’s license suitable for operating a box truck.
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently in compliance with workplace weight handling standards.
- Knowledge of route driving, adhering to traffic regulations, and safe driving practices for commercial vehicles.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with using mobile devices for navigation, route updates, and documentation purposes.
- Warehouse experience including the operation of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or similar tools is advantageous.
