Mining Plant Operator – BlackRock Services
The Mining Plant Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring crushing, screening, and conveying equipment at BlackRock’s aggregate facilities. This role ensures the safe and efficient production of quality aggregates for asphalt and construction projects, while supporting the Mining Foreman and maintenance teams in daily operations.
Role Overview & Purpose
- Operate crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment for aggregate production.
- Monitor material flow, gradation, and quality during production.
- Record daily production data, downtime, and adjustments.
- Assist with stockpile management and maintain site organization.

I. Plant Operations (What We Do)
- Operate crushing and screening systems to meet daily production targets.
- Adjust feed rates, screen decks, and crusher settings for proper gradation.
- Monitor material flow and detect equipment or process issues.
- Perform start-up and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently.
- Load and move aggregate stockpiles as directed.
II. Quality Control Support (What We Do)
- Work with QC personnel to ensure aggregate meets gradation and cleanliness standards.
- Take samples as directed for quality testing.
- Adjust production parameters under supervision to maintain compliance.
- Record deviations and report quality concerns to the Foreman.
III. Safety & Compliance
- Follow MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies at all times.
- Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and hazard assessments.
- Maintain clean and organized plant areas to reduce risks.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses immediately.
- Ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed during repairs.
IV. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication and belt adjustments.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and assist mechanics with repairs.
- Monitor wear components and communicate replacement needs.
- Keep equipment clean and secure at the end of each shift.
V. Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate production status, equipment issues, and safety concerns to the Mining Foreman.
- Coordinate with loader and haul truck operators for continuous material flow.
- Support maintenance and QC teams as needed.
