Black Ridge Contractors is a growing excavation and civil construction company serving Southern Utah. We specialize in site development, earthwork, underground utilities, grading, demolition, road prep, concrete preparation, and municipal infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the growth of our company while working on a variety of commercial, residential, municipal, and private development projects.
Compensation
- $70,000 - $108,000 per year
- Compensation based on experience, qualifications, and performance

Trial Period
This position includes a 3-month paid trial period. During this time, both the employee and employer will evaluate overall fit, performance, communication, and long-term compatibility. Upon successful completion of the trial period, the position will transition into a long-term role.
Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, underground utilities, grading, demolition, roadways, and site improvements
- Develop accurate project estimates and competitive bid proposals
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Analyze project risks, production rates, labor requirements, equipment costs, and material pricing
- Track bid opportunities and manage bid schedules
- Assist with budgeting, project startup, and cost tracking
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as necessary
- Maintain organized estimating databases and historical cost records
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, excavation, underground utilities, grading, or site development
- Proven ability to independently prepare complete project estimates from plans and specifications
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, production rates, and job costing
- Experience reading and interpreting civil engineering plans and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
