What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafe Sous Chef position at Black Oak Casino?

SUMMARY: To work as part of the kitchen team by providing proactive leadership and guidance to all levels of Cooks and Utility Team Members. To ensure that all food is prepared to outlet and kitchen standards on a consistent basis. Responsible for the day-to-day running of a given outlet including being in charge of the kitchen in the Chef de Cuisine’s absence.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: (Specific areas of responsibility including, but not limited to)

Mandatory Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
- A culinary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Minimum four years in kitchen supervision.
- Must complete ServSafe certification or have proof of current certification within the introductory period.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and Black Oak Casino driver’s permit.
- Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of food preparation.
- Must possess a team-first attitude.
- Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
- Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test.
- Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.
Physical Demands:
- Must be physically able to perform all job requirements.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a non-smoke free environment.
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Must be flexible with schedule, being available to work any day and shift, including holidays.
