Overview

Black Mountain Ski Area, New Hampshire’s first and most fiercely independent and dynamic ski area, is looking for a new Lead Carpenter & Facilities Tech! Black Mountain, now the worldwide headquarters of Entabeni Systems and Indy Pass, has been completely revitalized and revolutionized over the last few years, and is deeply committed to its ongoing growth phase and its legendary guest-centric and family focus. We’re constantly modernizing our systems, our assets, our operations, and our mindset at an industry leading pace, and have made significant changes in all aspects of our offerings and operations! Black Mountain features a primary base lodge and F&B facility and several other F&B, operations, and maintenance buildings, and will soon acquire a nearby inn / pub / wedding facility.

We're seeking a dynamic and skilled Carpenter / Facilities Technician to join our mountain operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry, repair, and restoration tasks across our facilities. Your expertise will ensure that all structures, fixtures, and systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. This position offers an exciting opportunity for hands-on work in a fast-paced environment where your craftsmanship and problem-solving skills will make a tangible impact every day. Additionally, you'll be involved in a wide variety of other projects within the mountain operations department that may involve (but not be limited to) snowmaking, landscaping, and lift maintenance. We move swiftly in between projects, venues, and seasons.

This is a full-time, year-round, salaried and benefitted position, with additional winter duties to be determined based upon the candidate’s work / trade experiences and skill set. Salary range is $60-70K DOE, with preference given to those candidates who’ve also got a strong snowmaking background, whether on-hill or pumphouse-based.

Responsibilities

  • This is not a full list of duties / responsibilities:
  • Carpentry (new and existing facilities)
  • Facilities maintenance (new and existing facilities)
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute projects.
  • Perform framing, trim carpentry, door hanging, cabinet installation, siding, roofing, and metal stud framing with precision.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to carry out repairs, installations, and fabrication tasks.
  • Conduct concrete forming, masonry work, plastering, stucco application, tile laying, flooring installation, and water damage restoration projects.
  • Install fixtures such as lighting, cabinetry, doors, windows, and other building components following specifications.
  • Assist with rebar installation, plumbing repairs, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, and general handyman duties as needed.
  • Interpret construction plans and schematics to ensure accurate execution of projects while adhering to safety protocols like power tool safety standards.
  • Support remodeling efforts by fabricating custom components and performing heavy lifting safely on construction sites.
  • Participate in mold remediation and water damage restoration efforts with attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while ensuring all safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Minor HVAC, electrical, flooring, carpeting, etc. work across several venues
  • Mountain operations work related to (but not limited to) snowmaking, lift maintenance, landscaping, etc.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction or carpentry roles with a strong background in framing, trim carpentry, roofing, siding, or related fields.
  • Skilled in reading blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans.
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools used in carpentry and construction activities.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating processes is a plus.
  • Experience with concrete forming, masonry work, plastering or stucco application is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for precise project execution.
  • Familiarity with water damage restoration techniques and mold remediation is advantageous.
  • Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and working at heights or confined spaces safely.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail in restoration projects or remodeling tasks.
  • Valid certifications in safety practices such as power tool safety are preferred; relevant licensing or certifications related to electrical or plumbing work are a plus.
