Job Summary
We are seeking a hardworking, reliable, and detail-oriented Material Placement Specialist (Raker) to join our team. In this role, you will work directly alongside our precision slinger trucks to manage, spread, and perfectly level bulk materials. Your primary responsibility will be grading and leveling aggregate rock inside foundation walls for residential and commercial construction. Additionally, you will assist in placing and leveling sand, soil, and mulch for various landscaping, civil, and specialized service projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Foundation Rock Leveling: Work in tandem with slinger truck operators to evenly distribute and level aggregate rock inside concrete foundations, crawlspaces, and slabs to meet precise grade specifications.
- Multi-Material Spreading: Efficiently rake, shovel, and grade a variety of bulk materials—including stone, sand, topsoil, and mulch—for driveways, drainage systems, and utility trenches.
- Site Preparation & Finishing: Ensure all work areas are properly prepared before material delivery and meticulously cleaned up post-installation.
- Crew & Operator Coordination: Maintain clear hand signals and verbal communication with the truck operator to guide the slinger conveyor chute, ensuring safe and accurate material placement.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Safely operate and maintain hand tools (grading rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows) and any compact machinery (such as plate compactors or skid steers, if applicable).
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all OSHA guidelines, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain high safety standards in active construction environments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, concrete prep, landscaping, or hardscaping is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, constant bending, kneeling, and working on your feet in various weather conditions.
- Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for grade, depth, and level to ensure foundational rock meets structural requirements.
- Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic to keep pace with fast-moving slinger truck deliveries.
- Reliability: Dependable transportation to get to shop locations or job sites on time daily.
- License: A valid driver’s license is a plus.
Working Conditions
- This is an outdoor, physically demanding position.
- Work environments include active residential developments, commercial construction zones, and various outdoor landscapes.
- Exposure to seasonal weather elements (heat, cold, rain) and dusty environments is standard.
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
