Help Inspire Travel to the Black Hills & Badlands

*This is an on-site position located in Rapid City, South Dakota. *

Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association (BH&B) is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our creative marketing team.

·        This position plays a vital role in inspiring travel to western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming by creating compelling visual communications that showcase one of the country's most iconic destinations. The Graphic Designer leads the design, layout and production of BH&B's publications, advertising and marketing materials while ensuring every piece reflects the Association's brand standards and accurately represents the Black Hills & Badlands.

·        From designing BH&B's flagship publications and member advertising to creating marketing materials, sales collateral, graphics and other visual communications, this position helps shape nearly every visual communication produced by the Association.

·        The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented and takes pride in producing polished, accurate work that inspires travel while authentically representing the Black Hills & Badlands.

Primary Responsibilities

Publication Design & Production

• Manage multiple publication, advertising and design projects simultaneously while consistently meeting production schedules and deadlines.
• Design, paginate and produce BH&B's publications and print materials from concept through final production.
• Create engaging layouts with a strong emphasis on typography, readability and visual hierarchy.
• Prepare production-ready files and coordinate revisions through completion.

Advertising & Marketing

• Develop creative concepts that effectively communicate marketing messages while maintaining BH&B's brand identity.
• Design brochures, maps, sales materials, promotional pieces and other marketing collateral that support BH&B's programs and services.
• Design compelling advertisements for BH&B and its members and marketing programs.

Brand Identity

• Ensure all visual communications consistently reflect BH&B's branding standards.
• Select photography, illustrations and graphic elements that accurately portray the Black Hills & Badlands and support the Association's marketing objectives.
• Use emerging creative technologies responsibly while maintaining the authenticity and integrity of destination marketing materials.

Collaboration & Project Management

• Collaborate with marketing, sales and administrative staff to deliver successful projects.
• Communicate project timelines and progress across departments to ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Identify opportunities to improve creative processes and production efficiencies.

Professional Development

• Stay current with graphic design trends, production techniques and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and creative learning.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Exceptional graphic design skills with demonstrated excellence in publication layout, typography and print production.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of branding, visual communication and design principles.
• Ability to conceptualize creative solutions and translate ideas into effective visual communications.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Ability to accept feedback, incorporate revisions and work successfully in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field.
• Professional experience in graphic design, marketing, publishing or an advertising agency.
• Experience preparing files for commercial printing and working with print vendors.
• Photography experience is beneficial but not required.

Travel

Limited travel may be required for meetings, conferences, trade shows, educational opportunities or creative production.

Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity, including the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Hours

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Salary information and benefits will be provided during the hiring process.
