GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Recruiting Specialist manages district-wide recruitment and admissions initiatives for transfer, career/technical courses, Adult Education, and provides pre-admission advising and financial aid information for potential students.DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

a. Coordinates and conducts recruitment visits to high schools for the purpose of building and maintaining working relationships with counselors, faculty, and prospective students.
b. Coordinates and conducts on-campus group and individual visits and tours. All potential students, their families and interested parties.
c. Establishes and maintains relationships with students, schools, governmental agencies, and area business and industry to promote College programs and services; strives to achieve and maintain positive public relations.
d. Collects and disseminates the most current information regarding academic programs and procedures concerning Student Services (e.g. orientation, assessment, advisement, registration, etc.).
e. Represents the College at local, regional, and/or national events sponsored by the College or other entities (e.g. job fairs, county fairs, open houses, etc.) as assigned.
f. Coordinates and/or participates in recruitment events and activities in district or out of district. (on and off campus).
g. Works with Marketing and other college departments to identify high-potential target (niche) markets and develop recruitment and retention strategies, plans and marketing materials to maximize enrollment.
h. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports of activities for national, state or college reporting.
i. Provides training and general supervision of work study and student workers that provide campus tours and support recruiting activities.
j. Processes, tracks, and stores Presidential Scholar Applications.
k. Manages the Black Hawk College InfoBox email account.
l. Works with Student Life and the Student Ambassadors to maintain consistent tour operations.
m. Maintains satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
a. Develops and implements a district-wide system to disseminate College information to prospective students, schools, businesses, and the community.
b. Responsible for being knowledgeable of college areas including advising, financial aid, registration and academic programs.
c. Participate with college departments at emergency response functions resulting from business/industry layoffs or closures.
d. Works collaboratively with Marketing and PR to update and maintain marketing materials related to College programs, services, and recruitment.
e. Maintains student recruitment system; enters data as necessary into the College’s student database system.
f. Maintains inventory and an inventory control system for recruitment materials; keeps adequate inventory on hand to meet demands.
g. Supplies and maintains recruitment forms and informational materials at various College sites.
h. Contributes to the development of unit plan goals and objectives.
i. Night and weekend work required as needed.
j. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
a. Associate’s Degree required with need to obtain Bachelor’s degree within 4 years of hire date, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
b. Previous experience working with diverse populations required.
c. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
d. Previous experience working with a database preferred.
e. Excellent communication skills required.
f. Ability to make effective individual and group presentations using technology required.
g. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends required.
h. Ability to travel occasionally required.
i. Valid driver’s license required.
j. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis required.
