Farm Manager - Sturgis, MI
Black Gold Farms has an exciting opportunity for a Farm Manager at its Sturgis, MI operation. The Farm Manager role is accountable for the success of the farming operation through achieving profit margin, quality standards, and sustainability initiatives. The Farm Manager role is crucial in ensuring the success of the farm by leading the team, collaborating other departments, land partners & customers.
Responsibilities:
- Leading, coordinating, properly staffing, and coaching the farm team
- Scheduling planting, crop input applications, irrigation, and harvest
- Ensuring the location is properly allocating resources and managing expenses, including maintaining the operations budget
- Monitoring and adhering to customer expectations to ensure their satisfaction, including implementing quality and service programs
- Directing harvest operations and conducting off-season activities
- Overseeing crop information and data management of their farm
- Maintaining positive relationships with our land partners and community
Experience Required:
- 7 years management experience
- Agricultural background
- Budgeting, P&L management
- Data management
- Bachelor's degree
Experience Preferred:
- Crop plan creation and management
- Input procurement
- Land partner/customer relationships
- Irrigation management
- Agronomic background
- Evaluating land potential
