Role Description The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Brigham City, UT, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for paving and asphalt projects. Daily tasks include reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting site visits, measuring and quantifying materials and labor, and developing detailed estimates and bid proposals. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, field supervisors, and clients to clarify scope, timelines, and budget requirements. This role also involves tracking costs, updating pricing databases, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and assisting with contract negotiation and change orders. The Estimator is expected to maintain organized records, support continuous improvement in estimating processes, and uphold safety and quality standards in all project planning activities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and project specifications, ideally within paving or civil construction.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including experience with measurement, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency with estimating or construction software, spreadsheets, and general computer applications; ability to learn company-specific tools.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with field teams, project managers, vendors, and clients.
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in paving, asphalt, site work, or related construction fields is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of local construction codes, safety practices, and industry standards is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or education in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site in Brigham City, UT, conduct field visits, and perform occasional travel to job locations as needed.
