Black Dot Steel is seeking a motivated Fabricator/Welder to join our growing fabrication team. This position involves structural steel fabrication, MIG welding, and working from fabrication drawings while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel components including beams, tubes, channels, angles, and plate assemblies.
- Perform MIG welding in a shop environment.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedures.
- Follow instructions from Fabricators, Foremen, and Management.
- Perform visual inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work efficiently to minimize mistakes and rework.
- Assist with fabrication processes including saw cutting, drilling, punching, and material preparation as needed.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Welding experience required; structural steel fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols preferred.
- Knowledge of welding machine setup and shop safety practices.
- AWS certification is not required for employment; however, candidates must be capable of passing an AWS multi-position MIG weld test.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
Compensation
- $20.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience, skill level, certifications, and performance during welding evaluation.
- Overtime opportunities available at 1.5x pay.
