The Retail Store Manager ensures that the retail store meets established revenue and profitability goals. Oversees store staffing and training store employees in a manner that increases store performance. They ensure that stores are sufficiently stocked and merchandised, administers corporate-wide or promotional events, and develops store specific events targeting a particular customer segment or community group.
Education
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Sales/Merchandising, Business or other related field
Work Experience
Required: 3 - 5 years retail store management experience in outdoor equipment industry.
Preferred: Outdoor equipment industry/retail store with high volume, and customer service/sales preferred.
Skills and general experience:
Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles. Performs complex tasks typically following established processes. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions. Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Authorized and responsible to continuously improve upon and perform all duties according to BDEL Quality, Safety and Employee Policies and procedures:
1. Responsible for and authorized to assist with all functions relating to the management of the retail store to achieve profit objectives including: hiring, training and motivating staff to provide excellent customer service; establish daily sales quotas for sales team and store, periodically reviewing, recognizing accomplishments, reporting, and events.
2. Creating sales/marketing strategies, promotions, advertising and merchandising programs.
3. Evaluating customer feedback, sales reports, trends, competitor strategies/programs, etc.
4. Create and executive community engagement and events.
5. Work alongside of Director of Retail in store openings and specialized projects/events.
6. Responsible for and authorized to ensure proper repair, maintenance and upkeep on facility; keep Facilities Manager aware of requirements and needs.
7. Responsible for communicating directly with customers as needed, resolving problems, and spending a portion of time on the sales floor actively selling.
8. Expected to maintain the safety of the staff and store, including responding to alarm calls and making certain the store is secure.
9. Authorized to assist company employees with accessibility to employee discount program and equipment rentals.
10. Responsible for the overview of the stores budget & P&L reviews each month.
11. Understands and can execute budget cuts, reallocation, and reforecasting.
12. Accountable to company marketing directives and execution of floor plans and guidelines
13. Represent your store at all required meetings, conferences and events under the direction of Sr Operations Manager and Director of Retail.
14. Ensure store's strategic goals and sales targets are met by maximizing sales and gross profit, reviewing sales performance, controlling expenses, and managing inventory responsible for the store’s P&L and profit/contribution targets.
15. Perform administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of all store operations, including the timely submission of all paperwork, preparing and submitting reports, and monitoring sales receipts and cash.
16. Monitor stock and inventory and perform quality assurance of merchandise on a regular basis - Execute and follow up on all loss prevention countermeasures including but not limited to shrink derived from paperwork errors, internal theft, and external theft.
17. Responsible for the development, planning and execution of community events, ensure all events are in line with annual event budget, directing community marketing in store.
18. Perform and complete other additional projects, duties, and assignments as required by leadership team
