Are you an HR professional who is passionate about people operations and organizational excellence? The Black Cultural Zone CDC (BCZ) is seeking a Coordinator, Human Resources to steward payroll processing, HRIS administration, HR compliance documentation, and meeting and event logistics. This role is essential to the operational backbone of BCZ's People and Culture team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Process Payroll: Administer payroll processing support including timecard verification, leave tracking, and data entry into the HRIS in coordination with the Manager, Human Resources.
- Maintain HRIS Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date personnel records, benefits enrollment data, and compliance documentation are maintained in the HRIS.
- Support HR Compliance: Assist with monitoring and documenting compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws; maintain organized HR policy and procedure files.
- Coordinate Meetings and Logistics: Prepare agendas, manage logistics, take minutes, and follow up on action items for People and Culture team meetings and organizational events.
- Support Event Coordination: Provide logistical and administrative support for HR-related events including team member recognition, wellness events, and organizational gatherings.
- Coordinate Offboarding: Process offboarding paperwork, coordinate exit logistics, and ensure timely completion of all separation documentation.
- Maintain HR Documentation: Ensure all internal HR policies, procedures, and forms are correctly filed, updated, and accessible to authorized team members.
- Uphold BCZ Values: Model BCZ's C.R.E.A.T.E. values in all HR activities, team collaborations, and interactions with team members across the organization.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in human resources coordination or administration.
- Demonstrated experience with HRIS platforms, personnel file management, and payroll support processes.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively across teams and with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to BCZ's mission of centering Black culture, arts, and economic empowerment in East Oakland.

- Status: Full-Time, Salary, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday–Friday; some evenings and weekends as required; minimum 6 in-person days per month
- Location: Hybrid — primarily at the Aya Exchange and BCZ hub locations
- Salary: $58,872 – $74,880 per year
