What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder - 1st shift - 4-10 hr days position at Black Cat Blades, LLC?
Black Cat Wear Parts, DeWitt, IA facility, a global manufacturer of Quality Wear Parts for the construction, road maintenance and mining industries is currently accepting resumes for a Welder. This is a 1st shift position working 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Essential Job Functions
- Produce quality parts in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintain safe work environment around equipment
- Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, or hand tools
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter
- Select and set up welding equipment
- Operate machine that performs automated overlay tasks
- Load parts correctly and monitor machine performance
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Monitor the welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of parts
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter, using hand scrapers, power chippers, or portable grinders
- Perform all General Labor positions in addition to job functions listed above
Successful candidates will have a High School Diploma/GED, able to lift 50 lbs., be a quick learner, safety and quality conscious, team oriented and thrives in a diversified work environment.
This position starts at $18.00 per hour.
