What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waitstaff/Server position at Black Castle Construction?
The Waitstaff provides friendly, attentive service to all guests while ensuring smooth dining room operations. This role involves greeting guests, taking and delivering orders, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and assisting with daily saloon tasks. Because all team members are cross-trained, the Waitstaff will also learn basic bartending and kitchen duties to keep service running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
● Greet and seat guests warmly, sharing the unique saloon experience.
● Take food and drink orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen and bar.
● Serve food and beverages promptly and knowledgeably.
● Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any issues. Dining Room Operations
● Clear and reset tables quickly to keep the dining area flowing.
● Assist with light bussing, cleaning, and organizing of front-of-house areas.
● Handle transactions (cash and card) using the POS system accurately.
● Maintain awareness of guest flow and coordinate with team to manage busy times. Collaboration & Cross-Training
● Work closely with the bartender and cook to ensure efficient service.
● Learn to assist behind the bar (pouring sodas, basic drink prep, etc.).
● Help with simple kitchen tasks such as plating, prepping, or running food.
● Be flexible and ready to jump into any role as needed.
Other Duties
● Assist with stocking supplies, utensils, and condiments.
● Participate in special events or themed promotions.
● Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
● Must be 21 years old.
● Must hold a valid California Food Handler's Card and ABC Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
● Friendly, guest-focused personality with strong communication skills.
● Ability to multitask and stay organized in a lively environment.
● Previous serving experience preferred, but training available.
● Willingness to cross-train in bartending and kitchen roles.
Physical Requirements:
● Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
● Must be able to stand for a minimum of 5 hours.
Schedule: Part-time; hours vary depending on business needs.
