Black Bear Talent is seeking a highly capable and well-rounded Human Resources Generalist for our client. The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting the organization through full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and collaboration with leaders on both day-to-day and strategic HR initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for exempt and non-exempt roles.
- Partner with hiring managers to define competencies, screening criteria, and interview structure.
- Coordinate with temporary staffing agencies and external recruitment partners.
- Support onboarding and new hire integration.
- Maintain applicants tracking documentation and compliance reporting.
- Support H-2B or similar visa programs in coordination with legal counsel.
- Maintain confidential tracking of candidate documentation and compliance timelines.
- Ensure regulatory adherence to Department of Labor and USCIS requirements.
- Administer FMLA, ADA, and other statutory or company leaves.
- Maintain leave tracking systems and documentation.
- Communicate with medical providers and ensure return-to-work clearance compliance.
- Maintain personnel records, I-9 documentation, and audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Other duties as assigned per the HR Director
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA).
- Understanding of H-2B or similar employment-based visa programs.
- Proficiency in full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning.
- Experience managing leave administration and employee documentation.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies consistently.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Effective communication skills across hourly and leadership populations.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and tracking tools.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in diverse workforce environments.
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Critical thinking and sound judgement in employee relations matters
Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 4 years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, industry, or distribution environment preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred but not required.
- Experience working with external immigration counsel is strongly preferred.
