Staff Accountant/HR Support

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Business Advisor, you'll play an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting payroll, timekeeping, and day-to-day HR operations. Key Responsibilities

Accounting

• Perform daily bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Record daily sales and reconcile deposits.
• Process vendor invoices and assist with accounts payable.
• Prepare and post payroll journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Assist with general ledger maintenance and month-end closing activities.
• Support financial reporting and other accounting projects as assigned.

Payroll & HR Support

• Review and maintain employee time and attendance records for accuracy.
• Audit employee timecards, ensuring compliance with company policies and payroll deadlines.
• Process payroll-related tasks, including payroll data entry, adjustments, and payroll support.
• Assist with onboarding paperwork and employee record maintenance.
• Maintain confidential personnel files and HR documentation.
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, timekeeping, and HR processes.
• Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
• Support HR projects, audits, and administrative initiatives as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

We're looking for a professional who combines strong accounting knowledge with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's (AA) or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Junior Accountant, Staff Accountant, Payroll Specialist, or in a similar accounting/payroll role.
• Experience with QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience reviewing employee timecards and supporting payroll processing.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, journal entries, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality with financial and personnel information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payroll and timekeeping software.
• Experience supporting Human Resources functions.
• Knowledge of California wage and hour laws is highly desirable.
• Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry is a plus.
• Ability to learn new systems and continuously improve processes.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay

• $30.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
