What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Video Production position at Black Banner Productions?
We’re Black Banner, a creative video production team that believes in doing great work and having fun while we’re at it. We help businesses grow with videos that actually get people to stop scrolling, pay attention, and take action.
As our Director of Video Production, you won’t just be behind the camera. You’ll be leading the entire production process from kickoff to final delivery. This role is for someone who can confidently run client projects, guide a team of videographers and editors, and make sure every piece of content that leaves our office is top-tier.
This is essentially a creative lead role. You’ll cast the vision for each project, bring ideas to life through your team, and push the envelope creatively, while still making sure we are always delivering exactly what the client needs.
One day you’re directing a high-end shoot with a client, the next you’re leading post-production reviews, improving systems, and helping our team level up.
No two days are the same. We push each other to do our best work, support big ideas, and know when to break for ping pong. 🏓
What you'll do:
- Lead video projects from beginning to end, from pre-production through final delivery
- Serve as the main production point of contact for clients during shoots and project execution
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communication so clients always know what’s coming next
- Keep clients in the loop throughout the process, providing updates, gathering feedback, and ensuring a smooth experience
- Direct clients on camera so they feel confident, natural, and look their best
- Oversee and mentor our team of videographers and editors to ensure quality and consistency
- Own the post-production process including editing, feedback, approvals, and final polish
- Be the final filter before content goes out the door, ensuring every deliverable meets the Black Banner standard
- Improve internal production systems, workflows, and organization as we scale
- Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm ideas and shape stories that help clients stand out
- Keep projects moving smoothly, timelines clear, and communication strong across the team
What you bring:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional video production experience, ideally in an agency or fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to lead projects independently and guide a team through execution
- Strong post-production skills with Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects is a major plus)
- Confidence working directly with clients and leading on-set direction
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent work every time
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at once
- A leadership mindset with a desire to build systems, improve processes, and help a team grow
- Strong communication skills and the ability to bring calm, clarity, and momentum to busy shoots
Benefits
- Generous paid holidays
- Plenty of PTO so you can recharge
- Comprehensive health insurance
- 401k, 4% match
