Job Description – Assistant Coach
Objective
To assist in developing and directing a total school athletic program.
Reports to
Head Coach and/or Athletic Director
Qualifications
Have or be willing to obtain Oregon Coaching Certification and verification of approved concussions awareness course on or before the first contract day.
Ability to work under the head coach and help coordinate a program with the building-wide academic and co-curricular programs.
Experience in coaching preferred.
Current CPR and first aid certification is required.
Job Description
The coach will be responsible for implementing a coaching philosophy that promotes the expectations of high school athletics and activities. Will be responsible for training athletes and preparing them for interscholastic competition and developing their skills at a competitive level. Will assist the head coach with inventory, ordering, program budget, and program evaluation. Will enforce discipline, nurture student needs, and model sportsman-like behavior at all times. Will work within the OSAA rules and philosophy for extracurricular activities as stated in the OSAA manual. Work under direct supervision of the head coach and athletic director.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, custodial team and maintenance department employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
