Required: Iowa Armed Security Guard License

Hiring for Davenport, Iowa. Must have reliable transportation. Off Duty LEO or State of Iowa guard card holders preferred.

Part Time Hours. Shifts are weekend evenings between 2pm and 11 pm.

Seeking experienced and reliable ARMED protection officers to join BKI Services. Armed protection officers are responsible for protecting designated people and places and should report noteworthy incidents to the company as they occur. You should also ensure that safety equipment remains in excellent working order.

To be successful as a protection officer, you should be able to exercise discretion and demonstrate good decision-making regarding the use of your weapon. Ultimately, the outstanding armed security officers will seek to expand their self-defense and weapons training beyond the mandatory level.

Protection Officer Responsibilities:

• Protecting stipulated people and locations from harassment, physical attack, vandalism, and other forms of abusive or unauthorized treatment.
• Ensuring that your weapon is well maintained and secure at all times.
• Utilizing your weapon in times of extreme attack, when non-violent options have been exhausted.
• Attending refresher training in weapons use, if applicable.
• Exhibit a strong and authoritative presence to deter criminal activity.
• Completing and submitting incident reports after noteworthy developments.
• Recording the details of each person who visits the facility, if applicable. (Note: times/ duration of visits, reason for visit, personal/ vehicle descriptions, etc.)
• Ensuring that security equipment and measures are suitable and that they remain in excellent working condition at all times.
• Ensuring policy, procedure and state laws are followed and enforced at all times.
• Ensuring that your uniform remains clean and well-maintained and that you wear it while on duty.
• Documenting and articulating in written reports.
• Written and verbal communication with bystanders, law enforcement, company staff and supervisors.
• Testify in a court of law.
• Ability to monitor and operate CCTV, cameras and digital equipment.
• Patrol and conduct frequent security checks by foot and/ or vehicle when applicable.
• Be vigilant and have a good attention span for long periods of time.
• Secure spaces to ensure safety. (Secure doors, window, gates, etc.)
• Monitor/ control access points and operate alarms.
• Provide escorts to employees and visitors when needed.
• Provide medical and law enforcement assistance when requested.

Protection Officer Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1 year prior experience as an armed/ unarmed security officer, police officer or military preferred.
• Relevant weapons license and training.
• Clear criminal record.
• Strong commitment to the well-being of others.
• Excellent decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently, particularly when under duress.
• Neat, professional appearance.
• Capacity to work on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to work morning, evening, and night shifts.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs; 5 times consecutively.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Capable of working in extreme weather conditions for long periods of time.
• Must have a dependable mode of transportation.
• Must be able to pass a background check and have a clear criminal record. (No felony convictions and/ or domestic violence convictions)*This is an ARMED Uniform Position located in the Iowa City, Iowa area.

Experience preferred. HS diploma or higher. Job duties may include but not limited to:

• Protect, watch over, and secure necessary spaces and/or assets.
• Exhibit a strong physical and authoritative presence that will help deter criminal activity.
• Conduct frequent security checks by patrolling perimeter and grounds. Remain vigilant for anything unusual or potentially threatening.
• Recognize potentially dangerous situations and respond in the safest and most effective manner.
• Help, defend, and protect those in need.
• Investigate and remove trespassers/violators.
• Capture and detain perpetrators if further action needs to be taken.
• Monitor and control gate/door access for vehicles, workers, etc.
• Secure spaces and ensure safety for those inside (lock doors, close windows, etc.)
• Watch security cameras for suspicious activity.
• Set alarms as needed.
• Act as an escort to employees and visitors.
• Sound alarms and/or call for outside assistance when needed in emergencies(police, fire, ambulance care, etc.).
• Write, maintain, and present detailed reports, noting any damages, theft, and/or other irregular activity.
• Follow all state and company-enforced laws and regulations.
• NO Domestic Violence or Felony Convictions or any other status which will prohibit possession of a firearm.'

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
