We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Team Lead/Charge Nurse join our dedicated oncology team at BJWC Siteman Cancer Center. In this leadership role, you'll support and guide nursing staff, coordinate patient care, and ensure the highest standards of oncology practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience in administering infusions therapies and have a strong commitment to providing high quality patient centered care in a supportive environment and excellent communication, critical thinking and organizational skills. Strong IV insertion and port access skills needed.

Role Purpose
Under the direction of manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed.
Responsibilities
- Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to interprofessional team as appropriate. Assessment, reassessment, and intake screenings are performed using expert clinical skills, incorporates clinical inquiry, and EBP.
- Supports teams to ensure patients plan of care reflects application of holistic clinical knowledge and skills to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, anticipate barriers, incorporates the interprofessional team and caregiver/family input, and identifies opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
- Addresses gap between current and evidence-based practice and linkage to clinical assessments and outcome metrics. Leads the organization of resources and uses chain of command appropriately to prevent and manage safety events. Leads interprofessional rounds, discussions and/or patient conferences. Role models respect, equity, and empathy in interactions with diverse and vulnerable populations through care delivery (e.g., support for emotional, spiritual, and cultural preferences of patient, family, and/or other caregivers). Leads or co-leads interdepartmental problems solving while supporting institutional and unit/clinic standards, for safe patient care.
- Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence-based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change based on new knowledge, recommends new standards of care or revisions to current standards, conduct a literature search to support unit or organizational goals, disseminate new knowledge obtained from relevant conference or continuing education). Lead or co-lead a unit-based or hospital level improvement committee, an EBP/research project, new process or technology team, council, or standard work development and meets attendance expectations. Intervene and educate peers regarding safe practice and utilization of HRO (High Reliability Organization) tools. Complete formal preceptor or mentor training and then serve as an active preceptor or mentor to colleagues or students. Consider pursuit of advanced education.
- Analyzes gap in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads or co-leads efforts to integrate findings from clinical documentation reports to revise or improve care delivery or evidence-based practice.
