The BJH Surgical and Wound Care Center (SWCC) is a part of the nationally recognized BJC HealthCare Organization and located at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. SWCC provides acute and chronic wound and ostomy care, pre-surgical ssessment, post-surgical follow-up including bedside debridements, biopsies, advanced wound care, application of skin substitutes, and ordering diagnostic testing as needed. The SWCC works closely with Vascular, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho foot/ankle, Colorectal, Oncology/Oncology surgery, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, along with multiple other services. The center is staffed with Advanced Practice Nurses who have a collaborative practice agreement with the Acute and Critical Care Services (general and trauma surgeons). SWCC provides excellent, compassionate care to individuals consistent with their complex wound/ostomy needs. The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s).
