GI Endoscopy Technician I

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time GI Endoscopy Tech for our New Edwardsville, IL Medical Facility (2122 Troy Rd. Edwardsville IL)

 Position Details:

• Entry-Level Endoscopy Technician
• Day Shift Hours: Start Times varied from 6am- 9am (Mon-Fri) with potential for Saturdays
• Position Location: New Edwardsville, IL Medical Facility (2122 Troy Rd. Edwardsville IL)
• Training for Position is at Memorial Hospital Belleville, IL for minimum of 3 months
• GI Field
• Responsible for the setup of procedural rooms and works in collaboration with the RN to assist physicians during procedures
• Reprocessing, high level disinfection, and associated documentation of endoscopes
• Manages inventory and ordering of specialty supplies
• Under the direction of a RN, the GI tech assists with patient care in pre-op and recovery.
• Detail oriented, can prioritize tasks, works well in a team environment, and patient safety

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Candidate should have a Strong interest in pursuing a career in the medical field

Role Purpose

Under the direction of an RN and/or physician, the Endoscopy technician assists with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including transporting patients, disinfecting and process equipment, preparing the procedure room, and assisting in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Processes instruments and equipment, orders and keeps inventory of supplies, and maintains equipment.
• Maintains database for endoscopy, and keeps accurate statistics pertinent to endoscopy.
• Transports patients and assists patients with changing.
• Trains staff in areas specific to endoscopy instrument processing, supplies and the maintenance of equipment.
