Job Summary:
To transport and deliver customer goods safely, legally and on time while also providing WOW Customer Service
- Interact in a cooperative and professional manner with other team members, supervisors, customers, and vendors even in difficult situations
- Provide exceptional (WOW) Customer Service by building and maintaining effective communication with carriers, vendors, and internal and external customers
- Monitor and make an accurate account of all equipment, temperatures, and seal integrity
- Perform and complete pre and post trip safety inspections
- Safely operate and maintain equipment in compliance with Burris Logistics Transportation Department Safety amp; Loss Prevention Program, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) regulations and all state and federal laws
- Ensure all paperwork is accurate, timely and legible
- Ensure cargo is properly secured to prevent damage
- Accurate count of product prior to signing at all shipping locations or designate as “Shipper Load and Count” above signature on bill of lading, ensure proper temperature setting on reefer unit
- Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) only if currently trained and/or certified as required by position or as assigned by function
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Train and mentor team members if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years old
- Education - High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Current valid CDL A License with ability to maintain
- One year of Class A tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service
- Basic knowledge of electronic logging systems
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FCMSA) regulations
- Ability to read with corrected or uncorrected vision
- Ability to perform basic math computations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and identify/verify numbers
- Possess depth perception to properly operate equipment
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
- Ability to travel locally, regionally and/or over-the-road for deliveries in all weather conditions as required by location and business needs
Physical Demands/Equipment:
- Ability to independently lift 100 lbs occasionally
- Must be able to sit continuously for long periods while driving
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and squat on a frequent basis while on or off loading and performing equipment inspections
- Must be able to step up onto and down from truck multiple times per day
- Ability to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and occasionally withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
- Must be able to occasionally work in a noisy warehouse environment
- Must be able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc.)
- Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)

At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $28.00.
